Description:

The master composer of "The Joy of Love" reached the height of his popularity in his later years. The revival project of French music promoted by the Palace of Versailles continues to make a significant contribution to the revival of composers whose names are seldom known today. The decision to spend the budget to record this project is based on the recognition of the significance of making these composers known to the public. Hervé Nicquet, who has a proven track record of discovering hidden music, has recorded this new album, and it is one of those recordings. If you are familiar with even one album of lesser-known composers by this conductor, you will more than likely understand the significance of this album. There were several composers named Martini in the 18th century, but here we have the most popular French opera composer, known for his immortal vocal number "Plaisir d'amour" (The Joy of Love).Although he was a German born in Bavaria, his name was Martini, and he was loved by the royal family, he was active at the forefront during the Revolutionary period while avoiding persecution, However, he gained a strong following for his church music. Although "Requiem" was written during the reign of Napoleon, it was performed after the restoration of the monarchy at the time of the reburial of Louis XVI's corpse and attracted much attention. The bass soloist is a masterpiece, and the period instruments, such as the rich brass, are the best interpreters of the music, and Niquet is the best interpreter of it. Naxos Japan
