Schumann, Robert (1810-1856)

Description:

Herreweghe Re-records Schumann with Modern Orchestra! After gradually expanding his repertoire from the world of ancient music and choral conducting, Herreweghe has long been gaining attention for his symphonic repertoire as well. His overwhelming experience in the study of ancient music is often of great significance when he works with German Romantic works, but it should also be remembered that he first and foremost emerged as a choral conductor, and even in Romantic works, he has carved out his name with choral works with "words" first. This is a key point. Such a way of dealing with music is especially meaningful in Schumann's performance interpretation. Considering that Schumann, who wrote only piano music for a long time, had a period of writing only songs thoroughly before writing symphonies, Herreweghe's approach may be said to be the optimal way to accumulate experience.Herreweghe has already recorded the complete Schumann symphonies on harmonia mundi france, but this time with his own period instrument orchestra, the Orchestre des Champs-Elysées, whereas he conducted the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra (formerly the Royal Flanders Philharmonic Orchestra), a modern instrument orchestra that incorporates the idea of period playing. (formerly known as the Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra), a modern instrument orchestra that has adopted the idea of period playing. The recording is based on a relationship of trust built over many years of collaboration. "I want to use the time I have left to interpret works that are meaningful to me," says Herreweghe, and we can look forward to a new vision of Schumann. After recording the complete works on period instruments, Gardiner recorded the Schumann Zycles with the London Symphony Orchestra and compared it with his interpretation of Schumann. Naxos Japan
