To celebrate SAXON's first visit to Japan in 13 years, the band is releasing three previously unreleased Japanese titles with a bonus disc in the fall of 2024! already had an idea for the next album and had begun writing and arranging songs. In July, a YouTube video of the band members in the studio jamming for the album was posted on the band's website. In August, it was announced that recording would begin, and Andy Sneap, who has worked on ACCEPT and NEVERMORE, was announced to participate in the production for the first time. Andy will be mixing and mastering the album, with vocalist Biff producing. Andy's mixing work was completed in October. The band then announced the album title "Sacrifice" and tour dates; the music video for the title track "Sacrifice" was released in February and the album was released on March 1, 2013.The CD deluxe edition included a bonus disc with re-recorded versions of five classic SAXON songs. This Japan commemorative edition will also include these five songs in their entirety. After the release of the album, a world tour followed. The tour began in the U.S. with an appearance on the Monsters of Rock cruise, followed by a tour of South America, a U.K. tour in April, and European dates, including a headlining appearance at the Bang Your Head festival in Germany and an appearance at Hellfest in France. Sacrifice" was well received, with a heavier metal feel than 2011's "Call to Arms" and heavy, speedy guitars throughout, perhaps due to Andy Sneap's influence.
