Description:
Siegfried Wagner was born the eldest son of Richard Wagner and Cosima Liszt. Although he originally wanted to be an architect, he turned to composition following in the footsteps of his father. He studied composition under Humperdinck. He also showed great ability as a conductor, playing an active role in both performance and direction at the Bayreuth Festival. Unlike his father, he was known for his gentle nature, and many of his works are based on fairy tales and other familiar themes rather than grandiose words. This "All because of a Little Hat" is the 11th opera composed in 1915. The plot is taken from various fairy tales, including those of the Brothers Grimm, with Kateriesschen (Little Kateriess) and Frieder as the actual heroes of the story. Katerieschen and Frieder love each other, but Frieder's mother wants Frieder to marry Trude, the daughter of a rich man. Katerieschen scoffs at Frieder's lack of confidence in her own looks, and Frieder is cold toward her, so Frieder decides to enlist the help of a witch to gain her charms. The goblin "Little Hat" appears.He interferes with Katerieschen's arrangement of the dishes, hides Trude's pouch, and replaces the poison Katerieschen was about to drink with honey when she laments her failure. Eventually, Katerieschen and Frieder decide to part ways and set off on an adventure to a dream world... The synopsis of the opera is given in the prelude, and an elaborate writing style is used, with light motifs for the main characters. This video was recorded in 2015 and is beautifully staged by talented singers. Alexander Ryuk, who plays the lovely goblin, is a talented young boy who was a member of the Bochum Children's Choir at the time and won first prize at the regional "Jugendmusiziert Music Competition for Youth" in 2015.
