"Distant Sounds, Words Set to Music: Shigekazu Ikeda’s Favorite Horn Pieces" [Shigekazu Ikeda (horn), Akiko Asakawa (piano)] Shigekazu Ikeda [Shigekazu Ikeda] Graduated from the Faculty of Music at Osaka College of Music in 1987. In 1988, he enrolled at the Aachen State University of Music in Germany. He graduated from the same university with highest honors in 1990. After returning to Japan, he joined the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra. He held solo recitals in 1990, 1995, and 1997. In 1997, he released the CD “Collection of Horn Miniatures.” In 1999, he received the New Artist Award from the Itami City Artists Association. He studied the French horn under Nozomi Kondo, David Bryant, and Ricardo Almeida. He is currently the principal hornist of the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, a part-time lecturer at Osaka College of Music and Kobe Jogakuin University, and a member of the Aachen Horn Quartet and Ensemble Vega with Akira Miyagawa.
