Havana is a singer/songwriter based in San Diego, Southern California, who released her debut album "L.I.F.E." in 2005, selling 18,000 copies despite its indie status. Her quality sound attracted a great deal of attention. While her sound has the tropical cheerfulness of her namesake, she also has a history of growing up in a particularly difficult home environment, and her voice conveys her personal upbringing and the power that comes from it, appealing strongly to listeners. The concept behind her second album "Intervention," which is now being released in Japan, is the very struggles and anguish she faced as a child.While the concept is strong, the sound surrounding the entire album has the same tropical mood as the previous album. Rather than pursuing a traditional R&B style of singing, I wanted to pursue my own upbeat and lively style of expression," says Havana, who drops her voice into a powerful beat and creates new sounds one after another. The album's strength lies in the fact that each song has its own unique feel and can be listened to easily throughout the album, such as "It Ain't New," in which her smooth voice swims in a sea of futuristic sounds, and "Daylight," with its interesting contrast between the mysterious swirling bass and the gorgeous vocal work.
