Unique in having both classical and jazz roots, Chihiro Hosokawa has been performing in halls across Japan since becoming a finalist in the Montreux Jazz Festival Solo Piano Competition in Switzerland. Before the Corona disaster, she had sold out gigs at Kioi Hall, building her reputation. Her activities had declined due to the Corona disaster, but this winter, she is back in full swing with a new album. As a new repertoire, Chihiro Hosokawa will be performing famous songs from musicals. Jazz standards originally featured many musical songs from the 1930s to 1950s, but since the 1960s, the focus has been on original compositions. Chihiro Hosokawa covers musical hits from the 1960s onward, which have not been covered by jazz musicians, with an outstanding sense of groove, while mixing in classical elements that only Hosokawa can provide. The united playing of Yosuke Inoue, one of Japan's top bassists, and Sebastian Kapteyn, an internationally acclaimed drummer from Holland, make the famous musicals shine even brighter. (C)RS
