This is an FM broadcast recording of the band's wild and vibrant performance at the Fillmore West during their debut year, when they had just re-emerged as the Faces. Ian McLagan (key), Ronnie Laine (b) and Kenny Jones (ds) joined Ronnie Wood (g) and Rod Stewart (vo) from Jeff Beck's group. In 1970, they released the album "First Step", but in the U.S., it was released under the name of "Small Faces". In February, the band went on tour. The Faces & Rod Stewart was the name of the band at that time, and they played the Faces' songs as well as Rod's solo songs, who had already started his solo career. This would later become a distant cause of the band's demise.The tour continues to move back and forth between the U.K. and the U.S. This show was recorded at the Fillmore West in San Francisco on October 28, in the middle of the second leg of the North American tour, which began in October. In the opening act, Bill Graham can be heard calling out "Small Faces! can be heard calling out "Small Faces! The band has been playing a good number of shows, and their performance seems to have become more matured, and I was surprised at how heavy the sound was. The band played mainly songs from the first album, new songs that had not been released at the time, and songs from Rod's album. The final song is "Blues De Luxe" by the Jeff Beck Group. The last five songs on disc 2 are taken from the John Peel session at the Paris Theater in London in June of that year, featuring Rod Stewart - Vocals, Ronnie Wood - Guitar, Ian McLagan - Keyboard, Ronnie Rane - Bass, Kenny Jones - Drums
