Description:

Tommy Bolin, who had been active as a professional guitarist since his teenage years, had worked with several bands and came into the limelight when he played on Billy Cobham's masterpiece "Spectrum". Tommy was eventually selected as the second guitarist for DEEP PURPLE, who were looking for a replacement for Ritchie Blackmore at the time, and Tommy played a central role in the composition of Come Taste The Band, their first album with Tommy, released in 1975. Tommy was selected as the main composer for Come Taste The Band, the first album released in 1975 after Tommy joined the band. At about the same time as recording DEEP PURPLE, Tommy was recording his debut solo album. This is "Teaser". The recording members for this album include Jeff Porcaro, David Foster, Paul Stallworth, David Sanborn, Glenn Hughes, Phil Collins, Narada Michael Walden, Stanley Sheldon, Jan Hammer, and many others who are well known in the modern rock world. The songs on this album were recorded by some of the most famous names in rock music today. The songs on this album showcase his wide range of musical styles, including funk, jazz, rock, fusion, reggae, and more, and showcase his ability to transcend the confines of any one genre. It shows how much his talent had been in the limelight and attracted attention since that time. Tommy also sings vocals on all but the instrumental tracks. After joining DEEP PURPLE, his reputation grew synergistically, and after the first breakup of DEEP PURPLE, he released his second solo album "Private Eyes", but died prematurely in 1976 at the age of 25. This reissue includes the full-length "Teaser" on Disc 1 and outtakes from the album on Disc 2, and is released as a 2-CD set in a paper jacket.
