The label Luaka Bop was founded in 1988 by David Byrne as a music fan who wanted to introduce his favorite music to his friends, and has since introduced a variety of music from around the world, transcending countries and genres. Luaka Bop, which has been constantly releasing exciting new music, such as the recent release of a collaboration between Floating Points and the late Pharaoh Sanders, has now released its first album, the 1989 masterpiece "Brazil Classics 1 - Beleza Tropical The first release on the label, 1989's classic "Brazil Classics 1 - Beleza Tropical" is now available as an LP with a Japanese obi. This album is a compilation of songs by David's favorite Brazilian artists, compiled and released by David himself.The book covers the soundtracks of the most prominent artists of the 60's Brazilian Tropicalism generation (Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Jorge Ben..., etc.). In addition to David Byrne, Art Lindsay provides comments in the liner notes. This newly released album with a Japanese obi comes with bilingual translation of the original liner notes. A masterpiece compilation that will forever be an introduction to Brazilian music and will never fade away!
