WARP RECORDS' leading pop-psychedelia label releases "Spell Blanket - Collected Demos 2006-2009" and "Distant Call - Collected Demos 2000-2006", the last two Broadcast releases! !!! Broadcast is one of the leading pop psychedelia acts on WARP RECORDS. After gaining attention through singles released on several labels, including Stereolab's Duophonic label, the band signed with WARP RECORDS in 1999 amid a flood of offers to release an album on the label. Initially compared to the likes of Stereolab and My Bloody Valentine, the group's reputation grew as they released more and more original albums, and they established a solid position in Europe and the United States.Broadcast has released its last two releases, "Spell Blanket - Collected Demos 2006-2009" and "Distant Call - Collected Demos 2000-2006". Spell Blanket - Collected Demos 2006-2009" is comprised of songs and sketches gathered from the extensive archive of 4-track tapes and mini-discs by vocalist Trish Keenan, who sadly passed away in 2011. The album is the foundation for what was to become the fifth album by Broadcast, and provides an insight into the creative process that Trish and James Cargill worked on from 2006-2009, after the release of Tender Buttons in 2005.Distant Call - Collected Demos 2000-2006 is a collection of early demos of songs from Haha Sound, Tender Buttons, and The Future Crayon, as opposed to Spell Blanket - Collected Demos 2006-2009. Spell Blanket - Collected Demos 2006-2009" is a collection of early demos of songs from "Haha Sound", "Tender Buttons" and "The Future Crayon". Also included are two songs, "Come Back to Me" and "Please Call to Book," discovered by James after Trish's death. The songs are interspersed with Trish's responses to fans to the "Let's Write A Song" project conducted by the band in 2006--in which fans were asked to write lyrics on postcards and the band wrote songs based on them.
