The new recording by Concerto Stella Matutina, one of the top artists on the Fra Bernardo label, is an ambitious album called "Beaver & Beaver"! It couples religious works by composer & violinist Heinrich Ignatz Franz von Biber (1644-1704), known for his masterpiece "Rosary Sonata," and Karl Heinrich Biber (1681-1749), the 8th of his 11 sons. Although the great Biber is often featured in violin works, his religious music is said to have been as popular as the Viennese composers of his time. His son Karl Heinrich, who has been in the shadow of his father and rarely seen in the limelight, was also a talented musician who served as court music director in Salzburg, just like his father.Please pay attention to the little-known "Mass" and "Requiem" by Karl Heinrich, the successor of Franz von Biber.
