This compilation by Analog Africa is a must-have for all mankind, focusing on Essiebons, a prestigious Ghanaian label known for releases by Ebbo Taylor and others, and also covering secret, unreleased Afrofunk and Afrobeat! Analog Africa, a label that continues to release solid reissues and compilations, is pleased to announce the release of a new compilation of music from the prestigious Essiebons label, founded by Dick Esirfi Bondozie, aka "Old Dicks," a well-known figure among West African music fans, and synonymous with modern highlife in Ghana from the 1970s to the 1980s. I never thought I'd see such a maniacal focus...! Hats off to them. This project is a commemoration of Mr. Dix's 90th birthday, and although Mr. Dix unfortunately passed away before the project was completed, we have compiled his great achievements and released it with a full-color booklet. The compilation is a compilation of his great achievements, and is accompanied by a full-color booklet.The album also includes "unreleased material" that was recorded during the label's golden years in the mid-70s but for some reason was never released. The psychedelic electric piano and tight rhythm of the funk instrumental tune "Kofi Psych" that opens the album makes you feel how great this album is, and it also includes many unreleased songs by Ernest Hony, the performer of this song, as well as deep funk that reminds you of bands around Voodoo Funk. The album also features a parade of killer numbers that can only be heard here, such as the funky highlife "Africa" by Sea Boy and the Niamey Bekele Band, a familiar name on previous Ghanaian funk compilations, and Joe Meara, probably for the first time ever on a reissue. A parade of killer numbers that you will only hear here. Of course, the songs by C.K. Mann and other heavy hitters are also excellent choices, and the groove is consistent throughout the album, so you can enjoy it all the way through. While there are many compilations that are valuable in terms of documentation but not so good as sound sources, this is one of the most comprehensive compilations in a long time.This is a piece that you should not hesitate to own, not only if you like highlife, Afrofunk, Afrobeat or Reagul, but also if you are interested in African music even a little bit.
