A rare collection of organ works by Karl Löwe, famous for his songs. Karl Löwe (1796-1869) is known today for his songs, especially narrative ballads, and his "Odin Across the Sea" Op.118 is a baritone masterpiece. On the other hand, Löwe was an organist at a church in Szczecin (present-day Szczecin, Poland) in the 1820s, and wrote several organ pieces. This CD is a milestone, as Löwe's organ music has been largely neglected until now. The music ranges from modest compositions to music in the style of the Romanticism of the early 19th century. Irene Peyrot is a Lyon-born organist (male) who has been cantor at the Markt Church in Halle since 2005, and has been teaching organ at the Protestant Church Music College there since 2006. The organ is a 1901 Wilhelm Ruhlmann-built organ (renovated in 2017,18) installed in the city church of St. Petri in Rebejun, Saxony-Anhalt. It has a wonderful, very soft and gentle tone.
