A program made possible only by a brass ensembleThis is an album by the young brass ensemble "Saraptya Brass," formed by friends of the German National Youth Orchestra. The album has a curious composition in which Gabrieli's music, which should be called the origin of brass ensemble music, is placed in various places and echoes Takemitsu, Gershwin, Negro spirituals, etc. The sound of the instruments is more than sufficient to bring out the full range of the music. The audience can enjoy a variety of music that makes full use of the instruments' timbres. Jörn Berwarz, who recorded Shostakovich's piano concerto with Melnikov, also joins the ensemble and performs the dual role of trumpet and vocalist. The Negro Spirituals also features an irresistible solo by jazz trumpeter Julian Wasserfer. King International
