Symphonic Poem "Uruse no uta" by Buhl from "The Sleeping Beauty" arranged by Hiroshi Wakasugi, the fourth in the series of masterpieces associated with the Russian Ballet Company led by the famous showman Diaghilev. In 1921, after writing three major ballets, Stravinsky joined the Russian Ballet and agreed to arrange a series of performances of "Sleeping Beauty" at the Alhambra Theater in London. Diaghilev agreed to the plan and accepted the arrangement. Diaghilev commissioned Stravinsky to arrange two pieces for which only piano scores had survived: the "Variation on the Lilac Nymph," originally called "Variations on Princess Aurora," and the "Symphonic Interlude," a long solo violin piece.After this trial, Stravinsky wrote "The Fairy's Kiss" in 1928, based on Tchaikovsky's piano pieces and songs, as a tribute to the great composer whom he greatly admired. The "Blue Bird Pas de Deux," also found in piano score, was arranged for chamber orchestra by Stravinsky for the New York Ballet Theatre in 1941, independently of Diaghilev. Although these arrangements may seem overly colored, they are in fact so perfect that they can only be attributed to Tchaikovsky himself. It is also noteworthy that Hiroshi Wakasugi, one of Japan's leading conductors, is conducting. In addition, the symphonic poem "Uguisu no uta" conducted by Bourg, who served as the orchestra's chief conductor (1964-1980), is an adaptation from his own opera "Uguisu," completed in 1914.The content is a combination of the music of the second and third acts, which was begun after Stravinsky had consolidated his musical language through the composition of three major ballets. In early 1917, he was inspired by Diaghilev's offer to stage the work as a ballet. The first performance in concert form was given in 1919, and the first performance in ballet form was given at the Paris Opera in February 1920, both conducted by Anselme. Swan Lake" was premiered by the Russian Ballet in 1911, the same year as "Petrushka," and was conducted by the master conductor Aaronovich, who had previously chaired the Leningrad Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bolshoi Theater Orchestra in Russia before defecting to Israel. His dynamic musical delivery will bring the charm of this ballet masterpiece into full bloom. ［Comment courtesy of King International.]
