The Adventure Bastard (1983 / Director: José Giovanni / Music: Ennio Morricone / Cast: Lino Ventura, Bernard Giraudo), in collaboration with EMI Music Publishing France, Ennio Morricone's score for the 1983 adventure film "The Adventurer," starring Lino Ventura, Bernard Giraudo and Claudia Cardinale, has been newly remastered and released in an expanded edition by Music Box Records. Director and screenwriter José Giovanni's 12th feature film, "The Adventurer," is an action-packed adventure film shot in the Canadian Rockies, with the majestic Wapta Falls as its main setting. Ennio Morricone picked up various elements from the melodic and instrumental palette to provide a colorful and catchy score. Following his usual approach, the Italian maestro suggested several themes. On this album, we hear for the first time four previously unreleased tracks, including two unused versions of the theme from "The Adventurous Bastard."The final score for the film consists of three recurring themes, which Morricone collaborated on again with harmonica player Franco de Gemini. The composer evoked the iconic pieces of his repertoire from the 60s and 70s, infusing José Giovanni's pictures with the Western sound he created. This newly remastered edition includes the complete program released on the Italian label Beat Records in 2004, as well as all the alternate versions. The original 1983 General Music soundtrack album has also been remastered from new pristine condition stereo master tapes, and four previously unreleased demo tracks stored at EMI Music Publishing France are also included for the The album also includes, for the first time, four previously unreleased demo tracks from the archives of EMI Music Publishing France. The package includes an 8-page booklet with liner notes by Sylvain Pfeffer on the film and score.
