Passionate Music and Virtuosity Lachoumia Plays Villa-Lobos Works Passionate music and a passionate virtuosity pianist Lachoumia recorded Villa-Lobos. Villa-Lobos wrote many works in all genres, including symphonies, but the piano was no different. His love of the guitar seems to have influenced his piano writing, as well as the fact that his first wife was a pianist, and his distinctive virtuosic keyboard writing style is evident. For example, "The Clown", which was often performed as an encore by Arthur Rubinstein, is a fast-paced piece with a difficult tempo that seems to have been influenced by Debussy and Stravinsky. Villa-Lobos, who was also a dedicated music educator, wrote piano pieces based on numerous nursery rhymes. The suite "Syrandas," also included on this CD, is one of them. The familiar melody appears in this piece. Lachumia has selected pieces that are particularly familiar to us. This is a disc that contains the best of Villa-Lobos' works. Lachoumia was born in Lyon in 1974. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon in the classes of Eric Heidsieck and Géry Moutier, where he won the first prize with unanimous approval and praise from the jury. He continued his studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon with Eric Heidsieck and Gerry Moutier, where he won first prize with unanimous acclaim. He also studied with Claude Helfet and took master classes with Yvonne Lorio, Madame Messiaen, and Pierre-Laurent Emard. In 2004, he received the Hewlett-Packard Foundation's "Musicians of Tomorrow" award. In 2006, he won the First Prize/Blanche Selva Special Prize at the International 20th Century Piano Music Competition in Orleans, where he was also awarded five other prizes.Actively premiering and performing contemporary compositions, he has been trusted by Pierre Boulez, Gilbert Amis, Gérard Pesson, Philippe Hersant, Mickaël Jarrell, Jonathan Harvey, Pierre Jodorowsky, Francesco Friday, and others.
