Isabelle Faust's first attempt at Martinů's violin concerto, filled with beautiful melodies throughout. His Violin Concerto is recorded by Isabelle Faust. It is interesting to note that this is not the more radical No. 1, but the lyrical No. 2, dedicated to Hermann. The melody is one of the most beautiful in Martineau's works, and a peaceful, rural world ensues. Faust's beautiful sound is brilliant, and Bělohlávek's rich Bohemian accompaniment is superb. This is an album that will change your view of Martinů. Another remarkable feature is the solo piano performance of the concerto piece "Toccata and Two Canzons" by the handsome Tiberghien. This is a bright and joyful piece of music that is not well known, but is thoroughly enjoyable. King International
