The long-awaited full-length album from Diskoria—a group that enjoys immense popularity both in Indonesia and abroad—is finally here! Let'sINTOIndonesia!!! Composer and DJ Diskoria is a group that gained attention following the re-evaluation of “Pop Kreatif” (a genre similar to CityPop in Indonesia) in the early 2010s, and they have been a driving force behind that boom. Characterized by their style of arranging ’70s and ’80s pop into modern, disco-inspired tracks, they have become a social phenomenon not only in Indonesia but around the world, fueled by the global retro and analog booms. Their physical releases—alongside those of WhiteShoes & The Couples Company—have become extremely hard to come by, so it’s great news that, following their vinyl release, a CD version has been announced! A must-listen for fans of Suchmos, Mitsume, Lamp, and WhiteShoes & The Couples Company!! I highly recommend their new track, “Kilauan.” Unlike Diskoria’s previous works, this track is somewhat unique—a top-notch proto-house tune that I’d especially recommend to fans of Indonesian disco-boogie producer MidnightRunners (aka Munir). At the same time, it’s packed with the retro elements they’re known for. To capture the vibe of that era, it’s a fantastic track that blends “the glitz of Mellyana and Sandii from Makoto Kubota’s ’90s works” with “the essence of Sheila Majid’s timeless classics.” Put that way, you’ll definitely want to play it on repeat! Highly recommended for DJs, collectors, music connoisseurs, and all music lovers alike! A must-buy!!
