Vanhal: Symphonies, Vol. 27" includes Baron Svieten in E-flat major (Es13), C major (C5), F major (F5), and Cello Sonata (A1), all recorded for the first time in the world! Es13 has been attributed to Haydn, Vanhal, etc., but all but the minuet movement are now considered to be by Baron Svieten. (In this CD, the Menuetto movement is omitted because it has already appeared in Bryan Es4.) C5 is considered to be a genuine work, and this digital recording is the first recording in the world. Cello sonatas are rare, but Vanhal composed more than three cello concertos at that time, and he also played cello in a quartet party with the legendary Mozart and others, which suggests that he was a master cello composer.
