BLAWAN, the genius of the bass sound, releases his disturbingly shimmering debut album "SickElixir" on XL Recordings! Jamie Roberts, aka BLAWAN, has long been a highly respected figure in the electronic music world. He has a very methodical approach to creating his own sound, and continually incorporates the musical influences he encountered as a teenager while growing up in the post-industrial town of Barnsley, South Yorkshire. He says he found musical inspiration from the metallic sounds of a commercial meat grinder he heard while working on a maggot farm at the age of 14. After playing in metal bands and visiting the legendary West Indian Centre venue in Leeds, he was exposed to the diverse spectrum of electronic music and broadened his musical horizons. After releasing EPs on cult labels such as Hinge Finger and Hessle Audio in the early 2010s, he launched his career as BLAWAN to critical acclaim and continued to experiment and push the boundaries of music in his solo career. He has since continued to push the boundaries of music through constant experimentation in his solo career. Meanwhile, he continues to work with British producer Pariah. They have worked together on numerous projects, including the live techno act Karenn, the metal-influenced band Persher, and even the Voam label. This album, "SickElixir," further solidifies his position as a unique and innovative artist. Produced in Berlin, Leeds, Paris, and Lisbon, the 14-song album is his most personal work and a manifesto for his stance on music and self. Driven by his deep grief over loss, family issues, and the upheavals of life, he further develops the sound of his recent EP, drawing the listener into a chaotic yet meticulously constructed sound world.BLAWAN is forging its own path with a style that is unlike any other.
