Rick Wakeman, the "wizard of the keyboard" known for his work with Yes, David Bowie, and Black Sabbath, will release his new album "Piano Odyssey," a new album by a legend who played an important role in the history of 20th century rock. This album, his debut for Sony Classical, looks back on the illustrious path he has taken so far with the piano he plays himself. The album features two covers of songs by Yes, including "Roundabout," as well as numbers by The Beatles, Queen, and David Bowie, and classical works, giving new life to the rich variety of songs that have colored Rick Wakeman's brilliant life.It also includes a new song of his own composition, demonstrating his appeal as a composer to the fullest. Wakeman studied piano at the prestigious Royal College of Music in London. On this album, he plays the Steinway piano for all the songs backed by a string orchestra, and he also did all the orchestration and arrangements himself. Rick Wakeman has long wanted to perform Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" on piano, and this recording features a guest appearance by his close friend Brian May on acoustic guitar, adding to his career-spanning journey.
