Description:
The world of the Corona Disaster as captured by Brad Meldor, the No. 1 pianist on the current jazz scene. SUITE: APRIL 2020, a musical snapshot of what everyone in the world would have experienced in April 2020, is now available on CD. Brad Meldor, the No. 1 pianist on the jazz scene today. During the pandemic of the new coronavirus, he and his family were living a life of self-restraint in the Netherlands following the lockdown, and he created 12 songs based on what he is experiencing right now. These songs, and three others of personal significance to him, were recorded by Merdeau in a studio in Amsterdam. The resulting album, SUITE: APRIL 2020, was released on June 12 as a charity analog limited to 1,000 copies and is now available on CD and standard vinyl analog. When not touring, Meldreau divides his time between Amsterdam, the Netherlands and New York City, but since the coronavirus pandemic, he has been unable to return to New York. This album is a reflection of his thoughts and feelings about the American society, which has been shaken by the coronavirus and the Black Lives Matter movement, in a distant land. Read his comments and you will understand what he wanted to depict and convey in this album. SUITE:APRIL 2020 is a musical snapshot of what everyone in the world must have experienced last month. I tried to paint a piano portrait of what many people experienced and felt in common and in a new way. For example, the song "Keeping Distance" traces the experiences of two people practicing social distancing through their left and right hands--how they are unnaturally separated, and how even in such a state, there is something It describes how they are connected in an unexplainable and enlightening way. There are also new revelations as much as the difficulties posed by the new coronavirus." Stopping, Listening, Hearing" is about those discoveries. It also highlights some of the things that I have felt particularly strongly about during the past month."Remembering Before All This" expresses the bittersweet, visceral pain that suddenly hits you when you think about how things were just a few months ago and how they seem so long ago now. Uncertainly" addresses the feeling that follows that thought--an empty anxiety about an uncertain future. (1/2)
