Esther Yoo, Vasily Petrenko, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra

Description:

A new release by a remarkably active young violinist who proves her intellectual musicianship and true artistryViolinist Esther Yu, who has recorded the Sibelius & Glazunov Concerto Collection and the Tchaikovsky Concerto for Deutsche Grammophon, is now releasing the Bruch and Barber Concertos. Both pieces were written when the composers were in their twenties, and Esther empathizes with their youthful energy and maturity, and they are pieces that have helped her grow as an artist. Bruch's Andante appassionato is also a short piece, but the seriousness and almost tragic atmosphere of the entire work gives it a symphonic foundation, and it is considered the composer's masterpiece. This is the first studio recording by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with its newly appointed music director, Vasily Petrenko, and it is also the first time Esther and Petrenko have performed together. Esther Yu was born in 1994, began playing the violin at the age of 4, made her concert debut at the age of 8, and attracted international attention when she became the youngest winner of the International Sibelius Violin Competition at the age of 16.Two years later, in 2012, he was also one of the youngest winners of the Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition, and was named one of the "BBC's New Generation of Artists" in 2014, one of "Classic FM's Top 30 Artists" in 2018, and WQXR's "12 Artists to Watch" in 2020 She was selected as one of the "12 Artists to Watch" by WQXR in 2020. Esther says, "This album feels like a beautiful melting pot of my past and present. An exemplary violin soloist of our time. Intelligent, eloquent, poised, and far more than a technical virtuoso."-Strad Magazine, Universal Music/IMS
