This is the first time in Deutsche Grammophon's recent history of over 40 years that the label has signed a female cellist. Camille Thomas is a truly international artist, born in Belgium, raised in France, studied in Berlin, lived in Paris, and has a touring schedule that takes her to many different countries. Camille's love of German and French culture is evident in the selection of songs on this album. Saint-Saëns was a French composer, and Offenbach was a composer who combined German and French cultures like no other.
