Mutant has partnered with Neon and Filmtrax to release Edo Van Breemen's score for Oz Perkins' latest horror hit, THE MONKEY/the Monkey. Based on Stephen King's short story produced by James Wan ("The Reaper", "Saw"), THE MONKEY/The Monkey is a new trip from Oz Perkins, writer and director of "Long Legs". When twin brothers find a mysterious screw-up monkey doll, a series of freakish deaths tear their family apart; 25 years later, the monkey begins a new killing spree, forcing the estranged brothers to confront their cursed toy. The score is as playful as the film itself, and masterfully crafts something that is both quirky and terrifyingly tense when it needs to be. Composer Edo Van Breemen said of recording the score, "Mr. King's monkey haunted our process throughout the entire post-production of the film.Mr. Perkins, on the other hand, has haunted us to the detriment of the sound and arrangements in ways beyond our control. We hope you enjoy this record. If you don't... Damn, it's a shame," he said.
