A pioneering early music ensemble breaks new ground! A collection of violin sonatas by Albertini, a little-known talent from 17th-century Vienna! Ignazio Albertini was a composer active in 17th-century Vienna, yet much of his life remains shrouded in mystery. This album features the world’s first complete recording of his only surviving work, the *Sonatas for Violin and Continuo (12 pieces)*. These sonatas blend the traditions of the Italian violin school with the Central European style cultivated within Viennese court culture, strongly reflecting the free and improvisational *Stilus Fantasticus* style. Through fluid movement structures, the contrast between singing melodies and virtuosic passages, and bold harmonies and chromatic expressions, they vividly depict the transitional period from the early Baroque to the late sonata form. The performance features Vojtěch Jakl, one of the Czech Republic’s leading Baroque violinists, and the up-and-coming early music ensemble RYNSKY. Jakul trained at the Schola Cantorum in Basel and has performed at major European music festivals such as the Leipzig Bach Festival, the Utrecht Early Music Festival, and the Salzburg Festival. He is a highly accomplished musician who also performs with prestigious early music ensembles such as Collegium 1704. RYNSKY is an ensemble formed by young Czech and German musicians who trained at the Schola Cantorum in Basel. It is gaining attention as an up-and-coming ensemble dedicated to rediscovering the repertoire of the Stilus Fantasticus style. To date, they have won awards such as the International Manhattan Music Award (2023) and the Audience Prize at the Biagio Marini International Competition (2021), and they are also supported by “S-EEEMERGING,” a European program for young artists.
