Description:

Rachhav Shani, a brilliant young conductor, contrasts the "stillness" and "movement" of Bruckner's music, and his idealistic and sincere approach produces a rich and clear sound. In September 2018, he will succeed Yannick Nézet-Séguin as Principal Conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, the youngest conductor in the orchestra's history, He is making headlines with his wonderful career. Rahav Shani was the first young Israeli double bass player to encounter Bruckner's music. He admires not only Bruckner's magnificent music, but also its atmosphere and conception: "This is a wonderful recording, both in terms of the conception of Rachaf Shani's music and its realization in the orchestra," he says of the 2023 release of "Bruckner: Symphony No. 7".It grows with each motive, the pulse of the conductor is steady, and the larger overall theme and development is flexible and free-flowing," highly praised by Gramophone magazine. This recording of the "Symphony No. 5. In an interview about Bruckner, Rahaf Shani said, "Bruckner's music has a very positive, future-looking sense as well as a retrospective and inclusive view of musical history. One can talk about Bruckner's relationship with religion, God, and spirituality. And perhaps most influential in this is also the beautiful melodic lines and cantabile and its continuing sense of atmosphere in the music... I never try to impose a particular interpretation... I let the music flow, develop and change. I prefer it... there is no right or wrong. Bruckner is not here for us to ask if he meant this or something else. He wrote music that went far beyond these things, music that conveyed deep human emotions".Rachhav Shani's Pluckner is the ideal, sincere and flexible approach, seeking the clear sound of "stillness" and the dense fusion of "movement" like Zubin Mehta and Barenboim, carefully making sure that the important direction of travel is never lost from sight, and moreover, that the work's further depth is expressed. The Japanese-language commentary, available only on the import disc handled by Warner Music Japan and with obi, includes a newly written commentary by Yutaro Ishihara, a member of the International Bruckner Society, as well as a Japanese translation of the work's commentary in the original booklet.
