His second album, 'REPEAT OFFENDER', then produced the #1 hits "Satisfied" and "Right Here Waiting," cementing his status as a hitmaker.To date, he has sold over 45 million albums worldwide and recorded more than 1 billion total streams of his songs. He also won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 2004 for "Dance With My Father," co-written with Luther Vandross. Richard Marx has now completed a new album. Titled AFTER HOURS, this latest release comes roughly three and a half years after his 2022 predecessor SONGWRITER, which focused on his identity as a songwriter. On this album, Richard revisits songs from "The Great American Songbook," tunes that have been sung by countless artists over the years. To pass these great American standards on to the next generation, Richard created this album with a 24-piece orchestra. To recreate the warmth and spontaneity of recording sessions from the good old days, every track on the album—skillfully blending timeless American standards with Richard's original songs—was recorded live in a single take.Special guests were also welcomed into the studio for the recording. Rod Stewart is featured on "Young At Heart," made famous by Sinatra, Kenny G on "Big Band Boogie," Chris Botti on "All I Ever Needed," Tom Scott on "Summer Wind," and Randy Waldman on Gershwin's "Love Is Here To Stay," featuring guests from the jazz/fusion world.
