Melodic death metal band RYUJIN's guitarist/composer Ryoji Shinomoto announces solo album featuring metal arrangements of classical pieces! 『Dragonbird Symphony - Prologue』 is the full-length album marking the beginning of Ryoji Shinomoto's classical metal project. It is an ambitious work reinterpreting famous classical pieces, centered around his custom-made 33-fret electric guitar. This work is positioned as a "prologue" because Shinomoto envisions re-recording the tracks after completing his currently-in-production 36-fret guitar, the Dragonbird. It also serves as a test piece for that future project. Drawing on representative works by composers such as Vivaldi, Beethoven, Liszt, Paganini, Chopin, and Mozart, it reconstructs these pieces by fusing metal and symphonic elements while respecting the original compositions' structure and emotional expression.The participation of Wataru Mukai, principal cellist of the Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, makes the intertwining melodies of guitar and cello a defining feature of this work, achieving a musical depth that transcends mere guitar virtuosity. Rather than relying solely on distorted expression, it also emphasizes delicate nuances achieved through volume control and picking techniques, making it a piece that appeals to both classical and metal fans.
