The only two quartets by Mozart that combine piano and strings are the two pieces included here: ・・・・2, both from 1785-86, a period when Mozart was at the height of his powers. The piano concerto is the D-minor K The piano concertos K.466 in D minor, K.467 in C major, K.482 in E flat major, K.488 in A major, and K.491 in C minor, followed by chamber music masterpieces such as Quintet for piano and winds K.452 and Trio for clarinet, viola, and piano K.498, and the opera The music of "The Marriage of Figaro" was flooding Mozart's mind at the time. ・・・・ Nevertheless, from today's point of view, these two quartets are beautifully written in a very full style. The piano trio has more completed works than the piano trio, but in the trio, there is a gap between the instruments because of the weak connection between them, whereas in the quartet, the gap is filled by the use of three strings, and the fullness of the quartet is greatly enhanced.
