d'Albert (1864-1932)

Description:

Dalbert (1864-1932) was born in Glasgow, Scotland, to a musician father whose talent on the piano astonished Kalkbrenner. He was self-taught in music and was a virtuoso pianist, performing and recording extensively. He was a pupil of Liszt and is said to have excelled at his master's music and Beethoven. He was also an accomplished composer, and his works include symphonies, string quartets, concertos, and operas in a wide variety of genres. On this album, you will hear overtures to several of his operas and the suite "Cinderella". Influenced by Liszt, all of his works are colorful and narrative in nature, but since he was active in the late Romantic period, his orchestration is close to that of Mahler and R. Strauss, and those who want to hear a rich orchestral sound will be fully satisfied. The orchestration is close to that of Mahler and R. Strauss. The Little Mermaid" is rather Wagnerian in style, including the subject matter. It is a music that shows how great the influence of Wagner was in this period. Naxos Japan
