The cello and piano play before your eyes...a fluid, but difficult to capture, collection of Fauré's cello works played by Ina-Ester Joost Ben-Sasson, principal cellist of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and a world-renowned soloist. She studied with Fournier, won the Belgrade International Cello Competition, and has performed with many great conductors, including Celibidacke. Both of Fauré's two cello sonatas, written in his later years, are known for their unique and austere appeal. As the 20th century progressed, Fauré's originally gentle tonal sensibility began to fade, and his sound shifted like light reflecting off the surface of water. Fauré's music is like light reflecting off the surface of water. She accurately captures such delicate currents of sound without losing the fluidity of the music. The arrangements of her early works, such as the well-known "After a Dream," have a different flavor and are also a delight to listen to Fauré's music. Naxos Japan
