In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of Rachmaninoff's birth, Slatkin's best-selling set is now available! Conductor Leonard Slatkin visited Japan again in November 2022, conducting the NHK Symphony Orchestra to a superb performance. The complete symphonies were recorded between 2009 and 2012, and were praised as "an ideal and memorable interpretation" (Gramophone) when they were first released. The interpretation is basically the same as that of the St. Louis Symphony disc, only the second movement is played in a shorter time in all movements, and the performance is stylish without being drowned in emotion (there is applause at the end of this piece only).
