Description:
Three years after their 2016 debut, Wa Di Yo (Rice CBR-696), which was formed in the wake of the Haitian earthquake and garnered a great deal of attention in the West. This second album by the Haitian powerhouse band Lacou Mijik attempts to demonstrate their musical affinity by inviting a number of guests, including popular artists with close ties to New Orleans, USA, a city with which Haiti has had ties for two centuries. Artists from a variety of genres, including Cyril of the Neville Brothers, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Arcade Fire, John Cleary, Layla McCalla, The Soul Levels, and many others, have participated across the board. Backed by a festive soundtrack, the content reaffirms the power of the music of both Haiti and New Orleans.
