Pervo Järvi and the Tonehalle present the complete Mahler symphonies! Paavo Järvi has worked on Mahler's symphonies many times and has completed a complete set of Mahler symphonies in live video format (C-major) with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, but more than 10 years later, he has finally begun recording the complete works in session, which he says he has been "waiting for the right time. The recording is now ready. The Zurich Tonhalle Orchestra, of which he is the chief conductor, was chosen as his partner for this major project, and the first recording to be sent out is No. 5. After the various attempts from No. 1 to No. 4, the composer himself has taken a new turn and broken new ground in symphonic works for instrumental music alone, and this work is a perfect starting point. The performance is meticulously prepared and recorded to perfection. Pavo's meticulous phrasing, the superb construction of this lengthy work, the fine ensemble of the Tonhalle Orchestra, and the orchestra's unique brightness and shadows create a deep contrast, deepening the work and enhancing its enormous scale.The recording is also noteworthy for its good perspective that enhances the interest and ideas of the orchestration, including the double-wing arrangement of the violins and the horn solo in the third movement standing on the opposite side of the other horn parts.
