This complete collection of Richard Strauss’s symphonic poems is a masterpiece he began working on during the 2012–2013 season and completed over the course of nearly four years. Starting with the first recordings in the series—“Death and Purification” and “Till Eulenspiegel”—Roth masterfully conducted the large orchestra, pursuing his own unique interpretation and a brilliant sound. The subsequent recording of “A Hero’s Life” generated significant buzz, as he refined his interpretation through repeated live performances before entering the studio.
