Description:
Spencer Doran, one half of Visible Cloaks, is one of the leading composers of the contemporary ambient and new age movement. Spencer Doran, a leading figure in the contemporary ambient and new age movement, spent three years composing and producing the original soundtrack for the road trip adventure game "SEASON: A letter to the future. The original soundtrack. Spencer Doran spent nearly three years composing and producing the original soundtrack for SEASON: A letter to the future, a meditative exploration game in which the protagonist, Esther, unravels the mysteries of the strange world around her through exploration, documentation, and encounters with people. Spencer was an early collaborator in the creation of SEASON, helping to define the game's fantastical world and emotional tone. His musical activities have taken many forms, including site-specific audio installations, compilation of the highly acclaimed "Kankyo Ongaku (Japanese Ambient, Environmental & New Age Music 1980 - 1990)," and production of humanistic futuristic works as a member of Visible As a member of Cloaks, he has created futuristic works with a human touch. Each pursuit found relevance in this video game soundtrack that takes place as an invented culture lives out its last days. SEASON is about what it feels like to be alive in a certain time and place, and the transmission of that feeling into the future. Esther, the protagonist of the story, is a photographer and recordist who uses microphones, cameras, and diaries to reveal the complexity of the environment in the face of erasure. The recordings are not mere salvage anthropology, but a key to understanding Esther's own past and a meditation on our present. Sound and music play a large part in the interactive and narrative nature of SEASON. The character is equipped with a free-form audio recorder that can capture and play any sound heard in the game, triggering revelations about the world around her.The organ played by the mountain air, the ratcheting music box echoing the "music of sleep" in the village, the Aeolian harp played by the gusts of wind in the valley, the imaginary exotica flowing from the old monk's hi-fi-these sounds are sometimes musical and can be heard interwoven with his score through the soundtrack (1/2) (1/2)
