Serge Gainsbourg was a lyricist, composer, singer, film director, actor, and painter, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of his death on March 2, 1991, at the age of 62. In 2011, the 20th anniversary of his death, Rice Records released a 2-CD best-of album titled "Best of Serge Gainsbourg" (WRR-7021), but it has already been discontinued. We are pleased to announce the release of the ultimate best album to mark the anniversary year of Serge Gainsbourg's influence on the French music world, in a 5-CD set that far surpasses the 2011 release. Serge Gainsbourg (Lucien Ginzburg) was born in Paris in 1928 to Russian-Jewish parents. Influenced by his father, a piano instructor, he began studying piano at the age of six, and at the same time became interested in painting.In 1954, he made his debut as a singer and began performing in nightclubs, and his name gradually became known to the public. Juliette Greco featured his songs on her album, and he became a highly acclaimed musician in the industry. In the 1960s, Gainsbourg appeared in films and wrote songs for popular singers of the time such as Sylvie Bartin, France Gal, and Françoise Hardy, and he also gained much attention as a composer. On the other hand, he also fell in love with women such as Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin. From the 1970s onward, he worked with Birkin and Vanessa Paradis, his wives at the time, and also demonstrated his skills as a film director. This album is the best of Gainsbourg's 30 years of music, containing 100 songs carefully selected and recorded on 5 CDs.The album contains hit songs in chronological order, from the early hit "Le Poinconneur Des Lilas" to the later hit "Mon Legionnaire". Of course, there are also songs featuring former love interests Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin, making for a very varied collection.
