Nanako Sato, a city pop artist who has gained a following among music fans overseas, is releasing her new album *LUST* in September! Specifications: 2LP / 140g / 33 1/3 RPM / STEREO This album, *LUST*, is a previously unreleased recording made at Maison Rouge Matrix Studio in London between 1996 and 1997. Unleashed from its 29-year slumber, this long-lost album is finally being released by the UK label Gearbox Records. From ethereal whispers to heavy screams, Nanako’s voice takes center stage, dancing freely across the soundscape. Inspired by her vocals, the top-tier musicians who participated in the recording poured their hearts into these thrilling sessions—the result is truly irresistible. While some may have learned of her name through the Japanese city pop movement—which has garnered significant attention from international music fans in recent years—Nanako Sato’s music is too unique to be categorized simply as “city pop.” This unreleased album will undoubtedly serve as a crucial piece in understanding her rare talent. And Nanako Sato says, “Music knows when it’s time to awaken. I think ‘LUST’ resonates powerfully with our current era.” Mysterious and beautiful music that cannot be arrived at through any formula. There is surely a special significance to the release of this album right now. The participating musicians include the late John Renbourn, guitarist for the legendary British folk band Pentangle; Danny Cummings (Dire Straits/Bryan Adams); Brinsley Ford (AZWAD), Dan Boutwood (Ianello), James Denham (Addict), and Charlie Price (Scissor Men), among many other renowned musicians, capturing the spontaneous, jam-session-like moments of the recording process. The recording engineers include Satoshi Fujii, and the lineup also features Susumu Osada—the rock guitarist whom Nanako claims is her favorite in Japan.
