Yokoyama Yukio

Description:

Album commemorating the 20th anniversary of Yukio Yokoyama's debut. The golden coupling of Tchaikovsky No. 1 and Rachmaninoff No. 3, two of the most popular and extremely famous piano concertos. Yokoyama's piano and the ensemble of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra led by Kazuhiro Koizumi show an extremely high affinity, and their deep espressivo, ever-changing sound colors, and tremendous drive are simply breathtaking. This is the first concerto album by Yukio Yokoyama in 15 years, since Grieg's Piano Concerto. <Born in Tokyo in 1971, Yokoyama won top prizes at the Busoni and Long=Thibault International Competitions in 1989, and graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris in 1990. In the fall of the same year, he became the youngest Japanese ever to win a prize at the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw, and subsequently received numerous awards, including the Nippon Steel Music Award Fresh Artist Prize, the Mobil Music Award Encouragement Prize, and the Agency for Cultural Affairs Art Encouragement Prize. He has always been active as a leading artist in the music world in terms of both popularity and ability, and is always in the spotlight. His activities cover an overwhelming range of solo, chamber, and concerto music, from the classics to modern and contemporary music. In addition, he has established a high reputation for the concerts he organizes through a number of ambitious initiatives, such as "Chopin Concerts: Chopin Complete Works in Sequence/1992-1999," "Beethoven 12 Concerts/1998-1999" featuring all piano works with work numbers, "Beethoven: Complete Piano Concertos/2005," and so on. In recent years, he has been performing "Beethoven: Piano Concerto Concerti" at the Tokyo Opera City. In recent years, he has performed "Beethoven: The Five Great Sonatas/2007" and "Chopin Series: Early, Middle, and Late Works/2008-2010" at Tokyo Opera City with great success. In 2010, the bicentennial year of Chopin's birth, he actively performed Chopin throughout Japan. For this achievement, the Polish government awarded him the "Chopin Passport," which is given to 100 artists in the world who have made particularly outstanding artistic contributions to Chopin's works in the bicentennial year of his birth. In 2011, the 20th anniversary of his debut, he performed all 212 Chopin piano solo pieces in a concert on May 3, 2011, and his 18-hour performance of the complete works from memory caused a sensation and a sensation, and broke his own Guinness World Record. In September, she performed an all-Liszt program (the first) at Tokyo Opera City as a recital celebrating the 20th anniversary of her debut.
