They are back at the forefront of the scene with their seventh studio album "Beneath the Eyrie", their first in three years since 2016's "Head Carrier"! The Pixies are a charismatic band that has had a major impact on the indie rock scene since the 1990s. They return to the forefront of the scene with their seventh studio album, their first in three years since 2016's "HEAD CARRIER." Formed in Boston in 1986, they have led the US grunge/alternative movement since then. Their insane lyrics and strangely pop sound with distortion and roaring guitars have won them many enthusiastic fans and influenced artists such as Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Pearl Jam, and many others. After releasing five albums, the band temporarily disbanded in 1993, but reformed in April 2004.In 2014, the band completed its first album in 23 years, but original member Kim Diehl (bass) left the band. A new member, Paz Lenchantin (A Perfect Circle, Zwan, etc.) joined the band as a touring member and was welcomed as an official member in 2016. BENEATH THE EYRIE" is the long-awaited new album. It is produced by Tom Dalgety, who is known for his work with Royal Blood and others. Incidentally, he also produced their previous album "HEAD CARRIER"; they had been songwriting for the new 2018 album and began recording in December at Dreamland Recording Studios near Woodstock, NY. The building was originally built as a church in 1896, and the tree by the building has an eagle's nest (=Erie), which was the inspiration for the album's title. (1/2)
