This is a collection of partitas by Franz Kronmer (František Kramaj), a Bohemian-born composer of the Viennese classical school. The court at that time had a permanent wind ensemble, and works for wind ensemble were important, and Kronmer left many of them. Kronmer is relatively famous for his oboe concerto, but his other works are rarely performed. The Partita, however, is a very interesting work, full of Kronmer's magic, light-hearted and satirical in places. The up-and-coming period wind ensemble, the Amphion Wind Octet, gives a performance that is full of piquancy and subtlety. ［Comment courtesy of King International.
