Keiko Harada's second collection of works! The second album on the WERGO label by Keiko Harada, whose collection of works (WER-6786/KKC-5404), released in 2014, was selected as a Record Geijutsu Special Selection. Continuing from the previous album, Hussong and Yumiko Mawari participate on accordion and piano, and a variety of other instruments appear on this album, including flute, trombone, koto, and guitar. Various combinations of duets are lined up. The compositions are characterized by a sense of cut-down tension and a slow weaving of music through breathing and gestures, reading each other's pauses. The album title, "midstream+," features a trombone and accordion, an unlikely duo with instruments of widely differing volumes. However, they also have in common that they produce sound through the air, and the sounds they produce blend with each other with extremely close sensitivity, creating a sound world that never ceases to fascinate, while taking advantage of each other's characteristics. The newness of the music is such that you don't even notice how many instruments are being played.＜Since the mid-1990s, Keiko Harada has focused on the "internal situation of the performer's performance" and has pursued her own compositional language, mainly in terms of musical gestures, time structure, and musical tension. His works have been commissioned by major music festivals, ensembles, orchestras, and soloists in Japan and abroad, and have been premiered and performed again throughout the world. His awards include the First Prize of the Japan Music Competition, Yasuda Prize, E. Nakamichi Prize, Yamaguchi Prefecture Governor's Prize, Akutagawa Composition Prize, Kenzo Nakajima Music Prize, and Otaka Prize. He has collaborated with many different fields in Japan and abroad. In addition to his creative activities, he is also involved in the field of education. As of 2017, he teaches composition at Tokyo College of Music (Associate Professor) and Tokyo University of the Arts, and also offers composition experience classes for children aged 8-18 at Toho Gakuen Music School (Matsumoto City) and Shizuoka Music Hall, with a total of over 70 students each year.
