The Complete Works of Chopin, performed by an expert who won the International Chopin Piano Competition and served as its jury chair Hyperion is releasing a 16-CD box set featuring the complete works of Chopin, performed by New York-born Garrick Ohlsson. It includes all the works Chopin composed during his lifetime: his complete solo piano works, piano concertos, other works for piano and orchestra, cello sonatas, piano trios, and art songs. The only works not performed by Olson are the waltzes, which were recently discovered at the Morgan Library & Museum in New York and caused quite a stir. This set includes a recording of these waltzes made for Hyperion by Steven Hough just a few days after their publication. This set can truly be called the most complete collection of Chopin’s works ever released. Olson won the 1970 International Chopin Piano Competition and has recently served as the competition’s jury chair.
