A Mersey Beat compilation supervised by Bob Stanley of Saint Etienne, a familiar name from the trusted ACE! The Kinks' classic song "Waterloo Sunset" was originally written about Liverpool, and was titled "Liverpool Sunset" in reference to the passing of the Mersey Beat group. This compilation takes its title from the song and captures the Liverpool scene from 1964-69, a thrilling but often overlooked period in the city's musical history after the merge-beat boom had passed: soul, R&B, psychedelia, freakbeat, and more.
