The world of U.S. baroque/chamber pop music developed from a folk background from the mid-60s to the turn of the 70s. Linda Ronstadt's first band, the Stone Ponies, introduced the autoharp into the band's lineup in 1965, while Bonnie Dobson and Nico experimented with string quartets, exploring new directions for Dylan after the advent of electric instruments. WALK AWAY RENEE" by Left Bank emerged in the psychedelic era and created a soft yet relentlessly sad sound. Montage, a rare project derived from Left Bank, "MERRY-GO-ROUND" by everyone's favorite Emmitt Rose, two miraculous Nora Guthrie songs that shone on the reissue on M Records, the treasured J.K. & CO from Vancouver, Canada, and much more...24 tracks in all. 24 pieces in all. The music still resonates with universality, using string quartet, harpsichord, and woodwinds to create a new type of melancholy for the summer and fall months.
