The album begins with his rarely featured but brilliant recently recorded masterpieces, the Violin Concerto, Violin Sonata, Piano Quartet and "Daphne Exercises. This is followed by recordings from Capuçon's earlier, wonderful concerts. Performed with a charming group of friends, they are the string ensemble version of "Metamorphosen" and the prelude to the string sextet from the opera "Capriccio". And finally, we conclude with a stunning performance of "Life of a Hero" with the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchestra conducted by Seiji Ozawa.The solo part of this concertmaster, known for its high degree of difficulty, is played by Capuçon himself, who was still in his early twenties at the time.
