Chopin (1810-1849)

Description:

Louis Lortie, 1st Prize winner of the Busoni International Piano Competition and 4th Prize winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition! The 7th volume of the series by the world-class Chopin player! Louis Lortie, a charismatic Canadian pianist, has been carefully weaving his "Lortie Plays Chopin" series for more than 10 years since the first volume (CHAN10588) started in 2010, and this is the seventh volume of the series. This volume includes the Mazurka, which is strongly influenced by Polish culture, and the popular "Polonaise de Hero," as well as the Spanish-influenced Bolero and the Tarantella, which was influenced by the Italian Neapolitan dances that were popular in Paris at the time. The wide range of works in this collection, from the young Chopin's works to those from a few years before his death, allows the listener to experience various aspects of Chopin's life. French-Canadian pianist Louis Lortie has a wide repertoire, but he is especially well known as a Chopin player, and his debut recording "Chopin: The Complete Exercises" (CHAN8482), recorded in 1986, is still highly regarded as Lortie's original and greatest work. The BBC Music Magazine BBC Music Magazine called it "one of the 50 greatest performances by a peerless pianist. He also won the first prize at the 36th Busoni International Piano Competition in 1984 and the fourth prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition in the same year. Tokyo M-Plus
